I am rekindling the romance with my crock pot. It has been hidden away collecting dust and feeling neglected. As a busy mom, there is no reason why I should not be using it more often and thanks to Pinterest, I found lots of recipes to feed my family and friends for the next several months. Yesterday I was looking for Valentine’s Day recipes and a pin for Crock Pot Cherry Pie came up in my search that was so enticing, I just had to make it. I raced to the store and purchased 2 (21 oz) cans of cherry pie filling and 1 box of yellow cake mix. (I always have butter so there was no need to buy more.) I promise, this is so easy and delicious, everyone will be begging for seconds.
Step 1: Pour both cans of cherry pie filling in the crock pot.
Step 2: Add the yellow cake mix. Do not mix, just pour on top.
Step 3: Pour one cup of melted butter over the top of the cake mixture.
Step 4: Place the lid over the crock pot, turn on high and set timer for 3 hours.
Step 5: After three hours has passed, remove the lid and let cook for an additional 30 minutes so the top gets nice and crispy.
Your delicious dessert is now ready to be enjoy paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
This was so much fun to make and the entire pot disappeared in less than thirty minutes. You can also substitute the cherry pie filling for apple, strawberry, peach, or blueberry. The possibilities are endless. You can add vanilla ice cream to mini dessert cups and top with the a scoop of crock pot cherry pie for you next large dinner party. I plan on making this for Super Bowl Sunday. Have a great weekend everyone!
