Every now and again a girl needs to eat out with like minded individuals and just enjoy a damn good meal. Last week I was invited to lunch at Del Frisco’s Grille in Tampa with fellow members of Tampa Bay Bloggers and let me just say, WOW! First of all, there is nothing I enjoy more than dining with fellow food lovers. For starters, we have lots in common, we appreciate the Tampa Bay area food community, we can shamelessly indulge and not feel guilty and lastly, we get the whole “I gotta take a picture and post to Instagram” concept more so than our non-blogging friends.
This was my first time at Del Frisco’s and everything from start to finish was just stellar. We enjoyed everything family style and I left not only happy but about 2 lbs heavier. As we were all chatting among ourselves and getting settled, I think everyone’s eyes lit up like Tiffany diamonds when we were presented with the first two items: Guacamole with crisp tortilla chips and Buffalo Style Lollipop Chicken Wings with avocado Ranch dressing.
Guacamole and chicken wings are staples in my life and Del Frisco’s didn’t disappoint. I could not get enough of either, especially their Lollipop Chicken Wings which are perfect for ladies who want to eat wings without the mess. With great flavor and just the right amount of spice, these were one of my favorites of the day. Whenever anyone wasn’t looking, I would sneak seconds and thirds of these luscious pieces of poultry in motion.
Next up were Asian Street Tacos with BBQ pork, pickled daikon & carrot, cucumber, cilantro and chiles. My oh my, these were incredible with the perfect balance of sweet and spice. I would definitely order these for lunch on my next visit. Well done Del Frisco’s, well done.
As if things could not get any better, we were treated to a gorgeous Heirloom Tomato & Burrata Salad drizzled with balsamic vinegar, basil oil and served with micro greens. A feast for the eyes with gorgeous colors, this dish just exuded elegance. Burrata is one of my addictions and I shamelessly took second and third helpings of this creamy delicacy.
Our next dish combined two of my favorite vegetables, kale and Brussels sprouts. Mixed with roasted almonds, dried cranberries, orange segments, shaved Manchego and Creole mustard vinaigrette, it was a beautiful combination. Once again, I found myself unable to stop eating.
To everyone’s delight, we were presented with some of their “Two-Fisted Sandwiches” and my favorite was the BBQ Pork Banj Mi which was similar to the Asian Street Tacos and served with a side of frites. I could not get over the presentation, as all of their burgers and sandwiches that come with fries are served with a mini ketchup bottle.
Aside from my pizza obsession, burgers are probably my next favorite thing to devour. Del Frisco’s Green Chile Cheeseburger is burger porn at its finest. Double patties, Jalapeño Jack Cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion and a pickle, it was sensational. Thank god we were sharing because I could start to feel my pants get tighter and I was in need of a serious burger intervention. Do not get me started on the fries.
Before I could blink an eye, it was time to dig into their Lamb Burger. I have always been fond of lamb and this was exceptional. Topped with roasted tomato, arugula, Tzatziki sauce and served with those better than … fries, I had to put my big girl pants on and make room for more food. It’s a tough job, I know.
Just when I thought they were about to “wrap” things up, we were presented with their Chicken Avocado Wrap. All I could think was, damn you Del Frisco’s! Not only did they tempt me with so many of my favorites, they just had to tease me with their tantalizing wrap. It was even better than it looked with smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and their “to-die for” Chipotle aioli. This is a must have while dining for lunch.
As much as I have a sweet tooth, I normally try to behave and turn down dessert but today was not the day. We enjoyed their Lemon Cake which was zesty perfection. I could not get enough of the cream frosting.
Suddenly, I ran into a problem. When something as cute as their Butterscotch Salted Caramel Pudding is placed in front of me, I can’t stop eating. Served in an adorable little jar, it was the perfect ending to my incredible meal.
I was completely blown away by my experience at Del Frisco’s Grille and have already told many of my friends about it. Brunch will be on the menu for my next visit and I highly recommend that you give them a try if you are in the area. Everything was top notch from start to finish. My only complaint was that there were not two of me so that I could eat more.
Disclosure: As a guest of Tampa Bay Bloggers, I was provided lunch at no cost in exchange for this review. Opinions are all my own and it was damn good.
