It has only been a week, but I am still reminiscing about the food and wine I enjoyed with the beautiful Innisbrook Golf Resort as a backdrop. For my third year in a row, I was invited to experience a media day at the 2018 Valspar Championship and spent the afternoon enjoying delectable bites and sipping on fine wines with some of my favorite bloggers. The day began at the Market Salamander Grille and we enjoyed everything from Colossal Onion Rings and Crispy Brussels Sprouts to Flatbreads and Sticky Ribs. There is nothing better than sharing delicious food with friends before enjoying a beautiful afternoon in Florida surrounded by celebrity golfers.
Once again, the Valspar Championship exceeded my expectations and even sparked a fire inside of me to want to learn how to play golf. I am currently looking into taking some lessons and practicing with some of my friends who love the game.
One of my favorite highlights of the Valspar Championship was Grape & Grain. After a stressful week, it was nice to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather while sipping on wines from Josh Cellars. As you may know, I am a Northern California girl, born and raised, so any time I have a chance to experience California wines in a beautiful environment, I am a happy girl. I felt right at home.
I had the opportunity to try their Prosecco which will be available in Florida very soon. It was fantastic and I can’t wait to buy some to enjoy on a warm Florida evening.
While we experienced Grape & Grain, we had the ultimate tour guide…..the one and only Ronde Barber. He was not only funny and hospitable, he taught us a lot about the Valsapar Championship and made our afternoon not only fun but educational.
I had such a great time meeting other media professionals and did not want to leave. What is better than a day on a gorgeous golf course surrounded by PGA Tour stars, great wine and people I admire? I can’t think of anything better and am already making plans to spend the entire weekend at next year’s tournament.
As a girl who has lived in Tampa for 15 years, I have something rather shocking to share. I have NEVER been to Frenchy’s on Clearwater Beach, or any of their other restaurants, and it has been on my list for quite sometime. When I spotted their pool party event, I just had to run over and sample some of their dishes before heading back home. Needless to say, I was not disappointed.
I tried their Coconut Shrimp Basket, Frenchy’s Garlic Crab Fries and a Grouper Slider. Holy wow was everything incredible. They are now at the top of my list of places to visit in Tampa Bay and can’t believe I have not had their food until now. They were such a great feature at the Valspar Championship and surely made my day end on a delicious note.
Once again, the Valspar Championship knocked my socks off and was a great way to celebrate my birthday which was just two days prior to me attending. While I didn’t get to see Tiger Woods, I still expereinced why golf is such a popular game and really felt the passion while at Valspar. Tampa Bay is blessed to have Innisbrook such a short car ride away and this entire experience just made me love this area even more than before.
I highly encourage you to attend next year and if you are looking for a great weekend getaway, Innisbrook is the perfect place to relax. I plan on heading back later this month to enjoy a spa day and dinner, which I will be sure to be sharing with you.
