Have you ever been at the store and suddenly you see something that captures your eye? Well this happened to me last week while shopping at my local Publix in Tampa. As I was rushing in to grab some bell peppers for the restaurant where I work, I spotted some of the cutest desserts I have ever seen.

Ok, I have a confession. I have been on a cookie frenzy over the last few weeks and have been treating myself to healthy cookie options almost daily. I am active and with it being summer in Florida, I must lose 2 lbs of water weight a day. Ok, well maybe that is stretching it but I do exercise often and try to run/walk 3 miles daily. Maine is high on my list of places to visit and I have long wanted to try their signature treat, whoopie pie. If you are not familiar, a whoopie pie looks like a large sandwich cookie made out of cake. My son refers to a whoopie pie as a “cakewich.” There is a bit of controversy about the origin of the whoopie since both Maine and Pennsylvania are claiming it as their own.
