I must admit, I go through a bout of depression after the holiday season when I take down the Christmas tree and my collection of beautiful ornaments. This has been going on ever since I was a child and even though I am now in my thirties, nothing has changed. January always represented a long and depressing month. Vacation ends and holiday gluttony is suddenly replaced with healthy resolutions. Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite “Hallmark” holidays because I love everything it represents: love, friendship, flowers, champagne and chocolate.… Read the rest
I love anything on Pinterest that I can make for my kids. I spotted a pin on how to make bouncy balls and knew it was something my kids would love. Courtesy of the blog, The 36th Avenue, this fun tutorial is great for kids and adults. I found myself playing with the bouncy balls and was so proud of my creation. As I have mentioned before, I am not very crafty and am trying to improve my DIY skills.… Read the rest
There is nothing worse than dry winter skin and razor burn from shaving. I discovered a wonderful pin for a DIY exfoliant and shave scrub that will leave your legs feeling and looking smooth, just in time for beach season. Simply mix coconut oil and sugar until you have your desired consistency and voilà, you have a wonderful exfoliating product that rivals many of the expensive brands on the market. You can use granulated sugar but I chose to use coconut sugar since I prefer it over regular sugar.… Read the rest
I am hooked on chalkboard paint after seeing so many wonderful ideas on Pinterest. I had been wanting a chalkboard painted wall for at least two years and now I finally have one that my kids adore. All you need is a can of chalkboard paint which you can pick up at your local home improvement or paint store. It is just like using regular paint only the end result is more fun.
My daughter is a little budding artist and creates new masterpieces each day.… Read the rest
Chalkboard paint is my latest obsession and something I have wanted to work with it for the longest time. One of the ideas that caught my eye on Pinterest was a pin for chalkboard stemmed wine glasses from the blog Just Short of Crazy. Perfect for a party, guests can write their name on the base of the stem in chalk and won’t have to worry about losing their glass. I bartend a lot of private parties and can’t wait to incorporate this idea for future events.… Read the rest
I am always looking for ways to save money and if I can make something rather than buy it, even better. I recently ran out of make-up brush cleanser and instead of spending money on another bottle, I decided to make my own after seeing a tutorial Pinterest. All you need is hot water and white vinegar.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, I have been looking on Pinterest for some cute DIY ideas for gifts and found a pin for Aromatherapy Vapor Shower Disks from the blog, Peacoats & Plaid. All you need is baking soda, water, essential oils, a muffin tin and cupcake liners. I tried these out today and was very proud of myself and how they turned out. I am NOT a crafty person and can’t even hem a pair of pants, so this was an exciting project.… Read the rest
I am not very good with arts and crafts and that is one of the reasons I am living a Pinterest life for a year. While I have hundreds of craft projects planned over the course of the 2014, I needed to start with something easy and then work my way into trying more challenging projects. Last week I came across a pin for cupcake liners as toppers for jars by The Frugal Girls. All you need is an empty jelly jar and some cute cupcake liners.… Read the rest
