Aside from pizza, my other true love is pasta and Federico Fellini said it best, “Life is a combination of magic and pasta.” Pasta has always been magic to me, as it is one of the few things that truly makes my troubles disappear. No matter how bad my day has been, nothing else matters when I am sitting in front of a bowl of pasta. For as long as I can remember, pasta has been my number one comfort food and is something that makes its way into my family’s weekly dinners on a regular basis.… Read the rest
This California girl has sure fallen in love with Florida strawberries. I never realized until recently that they are far superior to the ones I grew up eating in California. Since living in Tampa, I have been blessed twice with the opportunity to go strawberry picking. Not only was it fun and something that my kids really enjoyed, it has taught me to really appreciate all that our farmers do to bring us fresh produce to the local markets.… Read the rest
Happy New Year! I don’t know about you but instead of making resolutions, I make a list of goals and challenges for the upcoming year. By doing this, I don’t get upset if I fail, I just keep on trying. One of my many goals this year is to eat out less and cook more meals at home. 2016 was so centered around work that I often found myself rushing to get my kids and then just grabbing take-out or something quick from the local market.… Read the rest

I am so excited to participate in this week’s Sunday Supper which features summer’s best pot luck recipes. As I am currently visiting California on my virtual culinary tour of America, I wanted to share a California inspired recipe. Walnut grapes are easy to make and are a nice addition to a potluck or cocktail party.
When I am invited to a potluck or social event that involves everyone bringing a dish, I always like to bring something different.… Read the rest
Chicken wings and I go together like bread and truffle butter. I enjoy them baked, fried or grilled, but the most important component is the sauce. My favorite combination is sweet heat and my recipe for peach hot wings is sure to tickle your taste buds and put a smile on your face.
Forgive me if I get a bit teary eyed as I think about my hometown of San Jose, California. When I saw that this week’s theme for Sunday Supper was regional specialties, I knew I had to share something special from my childhood. Just to share a bit of my background, I was born in Walnut Creek, CA and moved to San Jose at age 2. I lived in the same house until I was 24 and then moved into an apartment with a roommate.… Read the rest
Spring is in the air and I am ready for seasonal flavors and dining al fresco before the weather in Tampa gets unbearably hot. I love this time of year when so many fruits are in season and I can incorporate them into recipes. Sangria is the perfect drink for the season and I have a fun spin on this classic using some of my favorite flavors.
Rasberries and lemons go together like peanut butter and jelly.… Read the rest
In a little over 30 days I will be attending one of my favorite food conferences in Orlando. This will be my third time attending the Food and Wine Conference at the gorgeous Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, FL. Last year I attended and was impressed once again with everything from start to finish. This year will be different, as I consider myself to be a born-again blogger. To be more specific, the last two years I pretty much dropped off the blog0sphere due to my strenuous work schedule and duties of a single mom.… Read the rest
Have you ever organized a dinner party and spent so much time cooking that you barely had time to socialize with your guests? That happened to me numerous times until I learned to simplify things and serve dishes that are easy to make yet super tasty. Polenta is one of my go-to items for many reasons. 1. It is inexpensive and for a single mom on a budget, it comes in handy. 2. It is versatile.… Read the rest
