Is there anything better than Sriracha? I have been using this spicy liquid gold on everything for as long as I can remember. I use it on eggs, in sandwiches, in wing sauce and even in certain desserts. While searching for football snacks in Pinterest, I came across a pin for Sriracha Popcorn by betsylife and immediately my eyes lit up and my mouth began to water. The recipe is featured on Around My Family Table which a fantastic food blog that I am now following. All you need is un-popped popcorn kernels, Sriracha and butter. In Betsy’s recipe, she pops her popcorn kernels in a brown lunch bag in the microwave, which I wanted to try. While shopping at the store, I could not find any lunch bags so I just used oil and popped the corn in a pot on the stove.
With NFL playoffs in full swing and the Super Bowl just weeks away, this is a great game day snack that will wow your friends and family. To begin, prepare your popcorn with your preferred method. I added oil and the popcorn kernels to a pot and anxiously awaited for them to pop. It reminded me of when I was a child and my brother and I would get excited as the kernels began popping.
Once the popping slows down, remove from the heat.
Next, melt 2 T of butter and whisk together with 2 T of Sriracha.
Toss the popcorn with the Sriracha/butter mixture until evenly distributed.
You are now ready to serve your Sriracha Popcorn. I purchased some popcorn boxes at the store but you can use whatever you want. Another cute idea would be to use Chinese take-out boxes that you can get at the local dollar store.
Now sit back and enjoy the game with an incredible snack!Pin It
