Happy Sunday! Today was the first Sunday that I have been off from work in months. Working in a restaurant can get quite exhausting and I was looking forward to a Sunday Funday with my kids. After spending the day at the park and grocery shopping, I decided to make some coffee and get some writing done. Last week I spotted a pin for a homemade French Vanilla coffee creamer on Pinterest and I was anxious to try it. Using only three ingredients, it is simple to make and a healthier alternative to some of the store bought creamers that are loaded with hydrogenated oils and other ingredients that are hard to pronounce. On my quest to eat cleaner, I need to make some sacrifices and must bid a temporary adieu to my favorite creamers that I have been using for years. That is why I was intrigued to try this recipe from the blog Shugary Sweets. Made with non-fat milk, fat free sweetened condensed milk and pure vanilla extract, it is a cleaner version of what I have been using in the past and tastes incredible. You can whip this up in minutes and will never have to worry about running out of creamer again.
While at the market, I picked up some fat free milk and fat free sweetened condensed milk. I used my favorite pure vanilla extract from Lágrima in this recipe, which is made in small-batch editions from only the best, single-source organic vanilla beans. I discovered this gem while at the International Food Blogger Conference in Seattle last fall and now I am hooked.
Using a large mason jar, simply combine the three ingredients, put the lid on tight and shake vigorously. That is it! You now have a delicious coffee creamer. I love how you can see the traces of real vanilla bean.
This makes a great gift for a dinner party and is perfect for the coffee lovers in your life.
