I must admit, I go through a bout of depression after the holiday season when I take down the Christmas tree and my collection of beautiful ornaments. This has been going on ever since I was a child and even though I am now in my thirties, nothing has changed. January always represented a long and depressing month. Vacation ends and holiday gluttony is suddenly replaced with healthy resolutions. Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite “Hallmark” holidays because I love everything it represents: love, friendship, flowers, champagne and chocolate. To this day I still enjoy conversation hearts and heart shaped boxes of chocolate.
My children were just as sad to put the Christmas decorations away as I was, so I decided to cheer them up by working on some Valentine’s Day craft projects. Since I have multiple trees in colors such as red, pink and silver, my son suggested we decorate “Valentine’s Day” trees. Excited, I began to browse Pinterest for some ideas and came across a cute picture of a “tree of love” that I knew would be perfect for our house.
All you need are a few tree branches, red stones (or Red Hot candies), Valentine inspired clothes pins (you can get at the local dollar store) and family photos. We whipped this cute tree out in about 5 minutes and it was so much fun we are going to make more this weekend. I will be sure to feature our other creations.Pin It
