Driving is one of my favorite pastimes. My life is so hectic and crazy that I look forward to my commutes because it is the only time I can be alone with my thoughts and have time to myself. If I am not shuffling kids to school or cheer practice, racing from one event to another or delivering catering orders for work, I am sitting at home exhausted. Being is a single mom is challenging and requires me to wear many hats.
I began blogging about 5 years ago and what started as an online journal showcasing places in Tampa that I love, turned into some pretty amazing adventures along with making great friends. About 2 months ago, I received a twitter message from DriveShop, which is an engagement marketing agency that is dedicated to the core belief that every new car is a hot rod for somebody. With a mission to help automakers and agency partners create experiences that inspire people to fall in love with their next new car, DriveShop had me intrigued. They asked if I wanted to drive a new car for a few days and I was beyond ecstatic. I currently drive a 2006 Honda Element that has seen better days. With all the wear and tear on my car from kids, my dog and caterings, my car is not what it used to be. I have been fantasizing about getting a new vehicle and dreaming about driving something shiny and new.
The magical day arrived and a gorgeous, 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport was delivered right to my driveway. It was love at first sight. Not only was this model in my favorite color, it had California license plates which surely was a sign that this was meant to be. I have missed California since I moved to Tampa in 2003 and just the sight of California plates made me smile.
One of my favorite features in the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the 6.1-inch Touch Panel display that will totally rock your world, as it did mine. With audio control at your fingertips and graphic icon display and hard keys to make functionality safer and easier. You will lose yourself in over 130 channels with the available satellite radio with Sirius XM™, or tune in your favorite local stations with HD Radio®, all while keeping your focus on the road ahead. For a girl that has to connect her iPod or iPhone to an adapter just to hear the music I want in my Honda Element, this was a huge highlight for me. Music is a big part of my life and I’ve never had such an amazing commute as I did driving the Outlander for a week.
Ok, do not laugh at me, as clearly I am living in the stone age when it comes to vehicles, but another feature I love is the key-less ignition with a push-button start. Holy wow was I impressed. I know this is not new to many of you but to me I felt like Marty McFly in Back to the Future II when he travels with Doc to 2015.
I took my first drive on the famous Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa. It was a beautiful fall day and I felt so special driving this beautiful car along the world’s longest continuous sidewalk. The sun was shining down on me and the day was perfect as I drove this spectacular vehicle.
I drove over to one of my favorite spots near my house, Ballast Point Park, and sat on a bench by the water just admiring this vehicle. If I was able to buy a new car, this would be it. The Mitsubishi and I were getting along like peanut butter and jelly.
Next I headed over to Starbucks for an afternoon pick me up. I surprised the employees in the drive-thru as they are used to me pulling up in my Element with a broken driver’s side window. They all clapped as they thought I had purchased a new car. I just smile and said that the Mitsubishi Outlander was my new date and I was testing the waters.
Since we were staying local, we headed over to a hidden secret in South Tampa, known as the South Tampa Farm, to pick up some local honey. I was enjoying my time with the Outlander so much it felt like a really great first date that I didn’t want to end.
As they say, all good things must come to an end and I immensely enjoyed my time with this vehicle. If you are in the market for a new vehicle, here are just a few highlights that won me over with the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport:
- FUEL ECONOMY (CTY/HWY) 25/31 mpg
- EXCELLENT STORAGE SPACE
- TRANSMISSION Continuously Variable-speed Automatic
- BASIC WARRANTY 5 Yr./ 60000 Mi.
- SEATS 5
REARVIEW CAMERA SYSTEM
I think the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and I make a great couple, don’t you?
